The Duke blueberry is widely regarded as one of the best early-ripening varieties. It is characterised by the fact that, despite its late flowering (April-May), it bears fruit early, as early as July. It has high frost resistance: it tolerates temperatures down to -25°C. The fruits of the Duke blueberry are large, firm and tasty, with a wine-sweet aroma. The skin is covered with a distinctive, moderately intense coating.
